**RESTAURANTS**

We have put together our list of restaurant recommendations ranging from super casual to fine dining. Some are walking distances from Echoland, some do pick up, and others would require you to drive. Please don’t depend on taxis as it is highly unlikely anyone can book one. That’s one reason we do recommend hiring a car!

Please note White Fox Co. policy on restaurant reservations. We are happy to make them if you are a guesting staying at a White Fox Co property. Cancellations or changes must be more than 48 hours before the reservation begins. Any no-shows or cancellations within 48 hours or turning up late will be assessed a 3000 yen/person fee. Some restaurants may have cancellation fees higher than this. This will be collected by Hakuba White Fox Co via the registered card on file and paid to the restaurant. This policy is to maintain our good standing with the restaurants and protect our ability to make future reservations for all of our guests.

Nearly all of these restaurants are bookable on www.tablecheck.com as we get closer to the season.  Usually November.

FINE DINING

Vive : Hakuba’s best restaurant. Modern, fine Japanese/Italian dining using local Japanese produce. Course menu only along with a range of wine & cocktails. Chef Suzuki worked 6 years at 3 different 1 & 2 Michelin starred restaurants in Italy. Tasting menu + wine pairing. Located in Central Echoland at Vive Hakuba. Pick Up/Drop Off Service available.

Mimi’s : Luxe Italian with delicious, strong flavors. Pastas, Porks, Steaks using local flavors and fantastic wine selection. Heavy and rich. Pickups possible. Area: Wadano. They offer pick up service.

Le Verdue: Offers authentic Italian cuisine with an abundance of locally sourced ingredients from Hakuba, creating a true taste of the region. Course menu. Great wines by the glass as well. Area: 10 min drive from Echoland. They offer pick up service.

Hakuba Hanten: Chinese Food inside a beautiful hotel, Sierra Resort. Offers courses during the evening. Driving only.

 

JAPANESE

Echoland –

Koikoi: Delicious, modern izakaya food. Area: Echoland.

Hie : Local Izakaya – Sushi, sashimi and traditional izakaya foods. Maximum group size is 6. Larger groups need to split up. Area: Echoland main street.

Yamanami : Teppanyaki Dining – delicious wagyu and fish grilled on traditional teppan. Lacks ambience but food is good. Area: Just outside of Echoland. Recommend driving.

Ariran: Yakiniku (grilled meats) – course menu.  You grill it yourself right in front of you.

Happo Area

Issei “Neo Washokudo” : Small beautiful Japanese modern interiors serving high quality pork cutlets, soba, tempura. (1 group: max 6 guests). Larger groups need to split up.

Yuki : Higher end Izakaya with a mixture of Japanese & Chinese dishes. (fantastic whiskey, cocktail, cigar bar in the same building). Located near Happo Bus Terminal. Drive there.

Driving Distance…5-10 min from Echoland.

Kikyoya: Offers fresh sushi and seafood for lunch or dinner. Definitely a favorite of any one looking for seafood on their trip. Book ahead.

Shouya Maruhachi Dining : Large Izakaya – beautiful folk home renovated. Pick up service is available. Area: Iwatake

Tori Co: Delicious, modern yakitori + izakaya food. Area: Wadano.

–Ramen–

Sukeya Ramen – fast, casual & delicious. Just at Hakuba train station. Walk-in only.

Takahashi-ke : A well-known ramen shop famous for classic Japanese ramen flavors and tantanmen (spicy flavor). Area: Goryu. Walk-in only.

–Yakiniku–

There have been a plethora of yakiniku restaurants to open in Hakuba!
Miyama – casual but always delicious.  Hot coals in front of you.  Cool beers always on tap.

Nikushoku Nakazawa – upscale yakiniku.  Delicious.  Courses.  Food is cooked for you.  Private tables and rooms available.  Can fit 10 person group in their private room.

Wagyu Samurai – upscale yakiniku.  Courses.  Private tables and rooms available.  Great for large groups with 170+ seats.

WESTERN CASUAL

Echoland.
Calico: Delicious bar food – burgers, wings, corn coblets. Open from 7am for breakfast to late Area: Echoland
Cherrypub: Walk in only pub food.  No reservations.
San Fermo: Takeaway Pizza (or eat in – but only 10 seats total).

Drive:
hybrid @ Koharu – Local produce / fermentation / charcoal grill.  Tasting Course. Max 15. Area: Wadano. Need to drive.

Gios: Casual Italian located at The Happo Hotel.

Bernd’s Keller: Traditional German Food, Schnitzels, Fondue, Wursts, Pig Knuckle. Lively Atmosphere. Area: Happo-One Resort @ Marillen Hotel

Taproom: 12 Craft Beers + Fresh made burgers, karaage, chicken parmesan. Great mountain views at sunset. Area: Happo-One

Rabbithole: Delicious Burgers, Salads, Wings, Coffees, Bar, Life Music at Night. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Area: Wadano
